The 2022 Edition of the prestigious NAACP Image Awards has got it’s engines fired up with the release of this year’s nomination list on the 18th of January 2022. Contained in it, where a number of celebrated black entertainers around he globe, including Nigerian names like Wizkid, Fireboy, and Tiwa Savage.
Afrobeats superstar, Wizkid has been listed amongst the list of nominees for this year’s NAACP Image Awards, in the Outstanding International Song category. The song “Essence” which features sultry Nigerian songstress Tems earned Wizkid the nomination at the forthcoming award show. Other songs nominated in the same category include Fireboy‘s Peru, Tiwa Savage’s Somebody’s Son, Kidi‘s ‘Touch it‘ and Omah Lay‘s ‘Understand‘.
The NAACP Image Award is an annual awards ceremony presented by the U.S -based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People(NAACP) to honor outstanding performances in film, television, theatre, music, and literature. The award has been on for 54 years, with it’s very first award ceremony held on the 13th of August 1967.
