It’s that time of year again, when the Nigerian social media spheres are ablaze with discussions and banters over which music acts deserve to walk away with an award. It’s that time of year again, when the Nigerian social media spheres are ablaze with discussions and banters over which music acts deserve to walk away with an award. Unarguably Nigeria’s most prestigious music award show, The Headies awards, has returned this year for its 15th installment.

The Headies awards founder and Executive Producer Ayo Animashaun stated on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022, that for the very fist time, the 2022 Headies will leave the shores of Nigeria. The 15th edition of Nigeria’s most sort after music award will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on September 4, 2022. The news spurred discussion and renewed interest in what is expected to be the most competitive Headies award yet.

This year’s award ceremony promises to be one for the books , thanks to the inclusion of new categories to the award list, as well as a change in the host venue.
Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Olamide have all received nominations for the 2022 Headies Awards, which is not surprising. Their nominations should come as no surprise to music aficionados, considering they all recorded albums during the year in question and had a lot of success with them.

The Next Rated Category has been one of the most talked about throughout the years, so keep an eye out for it. This is a voting category for the most promising act (with an EP or Album) in the year under review. Zinoleesky, BNXN, Ayra Starr, Lojay, and Ruger all received nominations in the Next Rated category for the 15th Headies awards.
