TEMS IS FLYING THROUGH THE STARS | Read

In a short time, Tems has proven to be of some essence in the music industry. Despite having just two released EP projects, a handful of songs, and a few collaborations to her credit, the stunning singer has swiftly established herself as one of Nigeria’s brightest talents in the international scene, with a voice that is difficult to resist.

Tems is a refreshing voice in the Nigerian music scene where just a few women have made it to the top. Moreover, this beauty is not only hitting the top of the Nigerian music charts, but she is also steadily impressing the international crowd.

Tems

What can we give credit for her fast climb to success, especially on the international stage – her beautiful voice or her unique style? An affiliation with Starboy’s success with “Essence” or just some pretty luck? Whichever is the case, everything seems to be working fine and in tune for her music career.

Notably, her impressive vocals are the first thing that will capture the attention of any listening ear; the musical commitment she put into achieving these beautiful tunes is the complete reverse of the high fast-paced bass being released by her counterparts in the industry, and even established female superstars like Yemi Alade, Teni, and Niniola.

Tems

Can we say that Tems is amongst the frontrunners of the new school vibes? I agree! She has crafted a lane for herself, and it is a beautiful vibe everyone is turning up to. Tems must be pretty proud to be part of the new generation of music artists coming out currently, and being part of the select few women right now.

We witnessed Wizkid and Tems duel back and forth over an uncluttered beat on the track “Essence,” as they strip through the layers of love and desire. This tune went on to set them up for more international successes while climbing through charts especially in the US.

However, think about it. Would “Essence” be a huge success without Tems’ unique voice? I mean no discredit to Big Wiz but just listen to the sultry thrills Tems brings into the song of the summer. I am not quite sure it would have been the same huge success without her vibes.

Oh well, Drake seemed to catch on to the Tems’ vibe, prompting him to feature her in his “Certified Lover Boy” album. The album is statistically growing to be the biggest album of the year, and yes, Nigeria’s beautiful Tems can share from his glory too.

I won’t miss mentioning that, on Spotify, Tems is currently the highest among Afrobeats acts – hitting over 14 million monthly listeners (305th in the world)  – the 2nd highest Afrobeats act ever. Burna Boy is the only Afrobeats artiste that has surpassed this number before with over 15 million monthly listeners. Is Tems giving off superstar vibes? Definitely!

Tems has come a long way since her first release “Mr Rebel” in 2018, followed by a big banger “Try Me”. Three years down the lane, she’s already a certified star!

Tems released a new project on the 15th of September – an EP titled “If Orange Was A Place”.
