Ghanaian artist Amaarae has released her vibrant new single “Girlie-Pop!” ahead of her upcoming album BLACK STAR, out August 8, 2025. Produced by Kyu Steed and Maffalda, the track blends hyperpop with West African rhythms and features a hypnotic video directed by Omar Jones.
Following the earlier single “S.M.O.,” “Girlie-Pop!” previews BLACK STAR, Amaarae’s third album mixing pop, Afrobeats, and club sounds with themes of empowerment. She continues to push boundaries with her fluid representation of gender and sexuality.
Amaarae will support BLACK STAR with performances at festivals like Lollapalooza and Osheaga. “Girlie-Pop!” serves as a soundtrack celebrating romance and sexual freedom, highlighting her bold, adventurous musical style.
