Things are definitely moving in extraordinary directions for the Afrobeats genre in its’s entirety. On Tuesday (April 26), Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, was enlisted as a headlining act at this year’s Rolling Loud Festival in Toronto, Canada.
The event, which is largely hosted in Miami but will also take place in Portugal and Toronto, is billed as the world’s largest hip-hop festival. This is the first ever Rolling Loud event being held in Canada, which makes it even more special for Wiz he would be making history as the first Afrobeats act to ever headline a Rolling Loud event in Canada.
Along with Nigerian-British rapper Dave and American rapper Future, the Grammy-nominated Afrobeats superstar will headline one of the Rolling Loud festivals in Toronto, which will take place from September 9th to 11th, 2022. Lil Uzi Vert, Central Cee, Arrdee, Rema, Roddy Ricch, Skepta, Migos, and a bevy of other heavyweights are among those set to perform.
Futhermore, Wizkid has disclosed how much he got paid to perform at the Rolling Loud festival. Wiz revealed on his Instagram story that he was paid a whooping one million dollars to play at the world’s greatest hip-hop festival. He expressed himself as follows:
