Tribe Boyz is a multi-genre group based in Lagos that is working to make its imprint on the scene with the aim of creating a vibrant hip-hop culture in Lagos.
Trapping in Lasgidi is the group’s first release as a collective, a gift to their listeners and an invitation to the tribe, comprised of five individual artists: Maxijonez or MJ, Tawati nicknamed the roadman, Punc, Hardman, and Napoleon.
The EP spans a variety of genres, from Afro-fusion to Trap, with each artist contributing their own unique style and flavor to produce a truly versatile and distinct listening experience.
Tribe Boyz explain the highs and lows of addiction as a way of avoiding the harsh reality of Lagos hustle culture as a teen on Don’t Judge Me. The catchy rhyming hook of the song jumps out, as the performers trade rap verses that seem to bounce off each other as well as the beat.
Lifestyle is a mid-tempo track containing Trap and Afro R&B themes. The seductive music, mixed with the singers’ soulful vocals, reveals the group’s softer side.
Tribe Boyz manages to discuss a wide range of topics from a profound perspective while keeping their listeners entertained and captivated by their music with style and charisma.
