Ghanaian heavyweight rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie, has penned a publishing deal with Sony Music UK.
The prolific rapper, who is a two-time BET award winner, penned the deal a few days after dropping his highly anticipated album ‘No Pressure‘
His 6th studio album since his debut in 2009, ‘No Pressure‘ is a 15-track hip-hop album that features both local and international artistes. The project features Mensa (United States), Giggs (United Kingdom), Wale (United States/ Nigeria), Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Oxlade (Nigeria), Harmonize (Tanzania), Kwesi Arthur (Ghana), Darko Vibes (Ghana), MOG Music (Ghana), Medikal (Ghana), and Benerl (Ghana).
Making the announcement on Monday the 2nd of August 2021, the rapper made it known that he had joined the Sony Family.
Sony Music Publishing was formed as Sony/ATV in 1995 with the merger of the original incarnation of Sony Music Publishing and ATV Music, which was owned by legendary music icon Michael Jackson.
Sarkodie joins the likes of Davido, Zayn Malik, R Kelly, Alicia Keys, DJ Khaled, Beyonce, ASAP Rocky, Shakira, etc. as part of the Sony Music Family.
