Solidly standing as the only musical act from Nigeria to be featured on “The Metallica Blacklist“, a remake of the iconic Heavy Metal group, Metallica‘s 1991 Grammy award-winning album “Metallica“, Nigeria’s own Tomi Owó made a highly remarkable contribution to the project, performing a stellar rendition of Metallica’s “Through The Never“, a record originally released in August 1991 under the aforementioned album.
Since the re-release of “The Metallica Blacklist” project in 2021, Tomi’s version of the song “Through The Never” which was produced by Oma Mahmud, has gone ahead to become a fan favorite, garnering a huge amount of success globally, thereby boldly stamping the Universal Music Nigeria signee as a force to be reckoned with. On the 17th of February 2022, Tomi Owó finally put a face to it, releasing an aesthetically pleasing performance video of the song directed by Badman Tej. The visual features the producer of the record, Oma Mahmud who can be seen positioned beside Tomi, radiantly playing his electric as she delivers a fiery performance.
‘The Metallica Blacklist‘ album consists of covers of all songs from the original 1991 album, performed by a diverse number of international artistes including superstars like Miley Cyrus, J Balvin, Elton John, Alessia Cara, Moses Sumney and a host of others. All proceeds for this album will solely be used for charitable causes.
