It’s 4/20, so what better day to release “High Life“, a new song by Dancehall artist Buju Banton and Snoop Dogg about the enchanted properties of marijuana? Buju Banton and Snoop Dogg collaborated for the first time on the song.

According to Buju Banton, the upbeat song, “High Life“, is “about how innate consciousness and connection is to the blessed herbs,” as he explains to Rolling Stone. “Not only from a feel-good standpoint but also from a spiritual one. We wanted to honor that sacrament in some way.“ The two musicians accomplish this while still having fun, as seen in Snoop Dogg‘s rap, “Pass me chalice/Real ganja baby inside Buckingham Palace.”
“High Life” is one of the few brand-new songs Buju Banton has put out this year; the others being his solo single “Media Dolly,” which was released in January, and his duet with Nitty Kutchie on “Lord I Thank You,” which was released at the end of March. Despite the fact that “High Life” is only his second new song to be released this year – the first being “Tomorrow,” a song for the Godfather of Harlem album that also features Denaun – Snoop Dogg has remained himself as always. In addition to appearing in a Super Bowl commercial alongside his close friend Martha Stewart.
