The Glits, The Glam And The Winners.
The BRIT Awards 2022 might have come and gone but the spectacular moments recorded during this year’s ceremony would linger on for generations to come. From the head-turning outfits, to the breathtaking performances, the ceremony was one for the books.
Hosted by renown British comedian Mo Gilligan, alongside media personalities; the stunning looking Maya Jama and TV host Clara Amfo, this year’s top winner spot was claimed my non other than “Musical Royalty” herself, Adele who bagged three awards out of the four categories she scored a nomination for, scoring the win for Artist Of The Year, Album Of The Year And Song Of The Year respectively. Though this year’s award presentation was not categorized by genders, instead they were replaced with new categories, Artist Of The Year and International Artist Of The Year fields, rather than the regular partitioning into Male and Female sub-division.
In addition to the list, new genre categories were also introduced, these include Alternative/Rock Act, Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap Act, Dance Act and Pop/R’N’B Act. The show organizers made it possible for voting to be done via social media app TikTok with Adele, Ed Sheeran, Little Simz and Dave leading the nominations going into the night with four nods each.
The show was graced with jaw-dropping performances from acts like Dave, Ed Sheeran, Little Simz, Adele, Liam Gallagher, Sam Fender and Holly Humberstone. American Rap/Pop superstar Doja Cat was supposedly billed to perform at the ceremony, but as a result of members of her team testing positive to the Covid 19 virus, she had to cancel.
Dave‘s Performance was such a standout one, he mounted the stage and showcased not only his prowess as a rapper but also as a multi-instrumentalist, as he strung brilliantly on an electric guitar during his set. Undeniably one of the most talented British Rap music acts in recent times, and one amongst the few rappers around the world who also double as instrumentalists, his abilities are reminiscent to that of legendary American rapper Andre 3000 of the iconic Hip-Hop group Outkast. As expected, Adele serenaded the live show audience with her impeccable vocals as she performed renditions from her most recent studio album “30“. Every single performer who graced this year’s stage, made sure to leave chills and goosebumps amongst members the audience with their unique individual showcase of artistry. With no doubt in mind, it’s should be said, that this year’s BRIT Awards ceremony was nothing less than a special one.
